ROCHESTER, NY – Herbal IQ-Rochester, a pop-up cannabis showcase, has debuted in Rochester, providing a workaround to the ongoing regulatory delays affecting retail licenses for dispensaries.
According to a report from WXXI, the initiative leverages a recent policy change by the state Cannabis Control Board, allowing licensed dispensaries to establish temporary outlets.
“In order to be a showcase, you need a licensed and operating dispensary, and there’s none in Rochester,” said Mike Dulen of A Walk in the Pines. “So, we have a good relationship with Herbal IQ and they said, ‘Yeah, we’ll do the showcase.’”
Herbal IQ-Rochester, affiliated with Herbal IQ in Erie County, aims to spotlight local growers including A Walk in the Pines and Tap Root, offering consumers direct access to cannabis products.
This temporary solution navigates legal obstacles, fostering interaction between producers and consumers, while the state continues to grapple with the intricacies of cannabis regulation.
The showroom is open Wednesdays through Saturdays, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., and Sundays, 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.
