First Cannabis Lounge Opens in Burtonsville, MD

BURTONSVILLE, MD – The Ceylon House, the states first cannabis lounge, is set to open this weekend after years of obtaining permits.

Co-owner of The Ceylon House, Venus Hemachandra, shared they initially had the idea in 2018 for the cannabis lounge and have been obtaining permits and following all rules since then to set it up, according to FOX5.

In order to meet all the rules and regulations they were required to put in a new HVAC system and set up and pay for certain insurance plans.

When people come to visit they must sign a waiver to verify they are 21 and older, be a Maryland resident as well as a registered medicinal cannabis user, and stop consuming any cannabis 30 minutes to one hour before they plan to leave.
