Infused jalapeno nacho cheese is the perfect topping if you’re looking for a spicy twist for your nachos. The herb-infused butter adds zesty flavor and beneficial health properties to a favorite Mexican meal.
Nachos are a versatile dish because they can act as an appetizer or the entrée with numerous potential toppings to suit each person’s tastes. By infusing the cheese in your nachos, you’re sure to enjoy them even more.
Decarboxylate your Raw Flower
Before making the infused cheese sauce, you first need to decarboxylate and infuse your raw flower to activate the THC. This will also help facilitate their binding to the fats in the butter.
Although you can use a traditional approach for completing these steps, a LĒVO II or LĒVO C home infusing machine allows you so much more ease of use, accuracy, and even control of the potency levels.
It is important to understand that these decarboxylation and infusion steps are central to old-fashioned infused cooking techniques and contemporary home infusers alike. A commonly used ratio is 3.5 grams of flower to 8 ounces of butter, but adjust ingredient amounts if you need more or less potency.
Use your hands to break down larger buds into smaller, even-sized pieces- about the size of a small pea. The flower should not be too finely ground.
Using a LĒVO machine is ideal for decarbing or Activating your cannabis, because it contains the smell and uses an even heating method that won’t burn your expensive flower or shake.
If you don’t have a machine to decarb your flower, this is the old fashioned way to decarb in an oven, which will make your kitchen smell strongly of cannabis. Spread the coarsely ground flower on a baking sheet. Heat the ground flower in an oven at 230 degrees for 25-30 minutes. Check every 5-10 minutes and gently shake the tray to move the flower around so it heats evenly. Be careful not to burn your flower up. Ovens are notoriously inaccurate.
Infusing the Butter
This step involves heating butter in a saucepan on low-to-medium heat. After the butter melts, add the activated flower and stir.
Then cover with a lid and simmer for at least 2 hours. Stir every 20-30 minutes to prevent burning. Keep the temperature under 180 degrees. Strain the liquid through cheesecloth to separate the solid plant material. Let the butter cool.
This step is much easier if you’re using a LĒVO II or LĒVO C infusion machine. LĒVO II infuses up to 2 cups, and LĒVO C infuses up to 4.25 cups or 1 liter. Depending on how often you infuse, you can choose the machine that’s right for you. You’ll be able to decarb and infuse in one easy to clean, dishwasher safe machine.
Set the time and temperature to 3-5 hours at 165°F to ensure your cannabutter is potent and golden. LĒVO features patented pod-systems that mean there’s no straining required and your infusions are ready to use when the infusion mode is finished.
Benefits of Infused Butter
Infused butter using LĒVO will enhance the taste and potency of this dish because the flavor of cannabis comes out less “dirty” tasting than stovetop or crockpot infusion methods. Old fashioned infusion methods or infusion machines that chop up the cannabis and require straining will produce a much more earthy, grassy taste. This is because LĒVO pods prevent the chlorophyll from cannabis leaves and stems from infiltrating your infused butter or oil – and that’s what makes the oil murky and taste bad. .
By choosing your favorite flower to decarb and infuse, you can create a classic Mexican dish rich in cannabinoids. THC and CBD has anti-inflammatory and mentally calming properties, which would be a great choice for making infused nacho cheese after a physically demanding day.
These infused nachos are the perfect dish to share with friends. They can be served as appetizers to other infused dishes like tacos, tamales, or burritos. But they would work great as the main entrée too.
Once you have your chips and infused cheese ready to go, you can also add other toppings such as guacamole, salsa, sour cream, and even ground beef or shredded pork.
These nachos are sure to be a hit and the highlight of any get-together.
