University of Colorado Study Investigates Impact of Marijuana Legalization

BOULDER, CO – The University of Colorado completed a study that investigated the impacts of marijuana legalization at the state level.

According to Neuroscience News, the study concluded that legalizing recreational marijuana at the state level did not increase substance abuse disorders or adults using other illicit drugs.

Furthermore, the study shows that legal recreational marijuana could possibly reduce alcohol-related issues, such as alcohol consumption.

The study tested 4,000 twins, between the ages of 24 and 49, from both Colorado and Minnesota. Currently, recreational marijuana is legal in Colorado but not in Minnesota.
