Cannabichromene (CBC)

Cannabichromene is the third most prominent non-psychotropic cannabinoid, or a phytocannabinoid, next to THC and CBD. It bears a similar structure to other natural cannabinoids such as tetrahydrocannabivarin (THCV), tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), cannabidiol (CBD), and cannabinol (CBN). However, CBC is a non-intoxicating form since it does not bind efficiently to the brain’s CB1 cannabinoid receptors. Thus, it does not cause the euphoric highs THC can provide its users. CBC can be primarily found in tropical areas, making it a low variety of the cannabis plant. This was first discovered by researchers in 1966.

Its conversion involves the utilization of the enzyme CBCA synthase, which is then converted to cannabigerolic acid (CBGA). This is turned into cannabichromene acid (CBCA) to later convert to CBC. CBC can be used to create therapeutic hemp and tincture oils, including edibles and cartridges.
